Indestructible Soul

It was my life and they took it

Like silent thieves

They ensnared my existence

They were fearless and bold

No agreement on their capture

I was bereft of life

Thus

There was nothing.

Just oblivion.

Nothing more.

What was I without my life?

There could be no preservation.

No survival.

No cure.

It was over.

But then one day

The soul stirred

Deep in my body

Deep in my heart

It began to breathe life

Into the weak carcass

That was me

Imploring me to start again

Grow fresh roots and flourish

To live in a different life

A new life

With new eyes

Free from despair and pain

So I began again.

And there were no thieves

Only angels at work

To make room in my existence

For my soul to emerge
